Scooby-Doo is probably one of your kids favourite cartoon animals and perhaps yours!  Who wouldn’t love this goofy dog who, along plushdeluxeadultwith his best friend Shaggy, are constantly hungry and have to be bribed with Scooby snacks in order to solve the mystery? He is such a funny character, with his unique chuckle, and his funny way of talking.  So, if you want to delight your kids this Halloween or fancy dress event, make sure you dress in this absolutely amazing Adult Scooby Doo Costume shown on the right.

shaggyadultOf course, you can also choose one of the other great Scooby Doo characters: Shaggy, Fred, Velma or Daphne.  Personally, my favorite is Shaggy who is ever-ready for a sandwich! He is usually not far from Scooby Doo who also is never far from food! You can see the Shaggy Adult Costume here on the left.

Some may prefer blonde-haired Fred who is the leader of the gang, the red-haired and fashionable Daphne or the intelligent but not so fashionable Velma with her black-rimmed spectacles.

Velma is the nerdy detective of the gang and usually solves the case. Daphne is usually the one who needs rescuing and whose main concern is to look good. Fred drives the Mystery Van. You can see costumes for these three below.

To make sure that you are one up on your kids with some Scooby-Doo trivia, read on:

•    Scooby-Doo is a Great Dane, who is seven years old.  He is covered in brown fur from head to toe with a few distinctive black spots on his upper body.

•    Scooby wears a blue collar with a diamond shaped tag with the initials “SD” on it.

•     He is the pet and best friend of Shaggy.

•    Scooby is a talking dog, but has problems pronouncing his words properly which is probably because he is a dog! To sound like Scooby make sure you include “Rooby-Rooby-Roo” and “Ruh-roh, Raggy” now and again.

•    Scooby-Doo has a nephew called Scrappy-Doo and cousins called Scooby-Dum, Scooby-Dee, Dooby-Doo and Yabba-Doo.

•    Scooby-Doo’s name is said to have come from the last line of the song “Strangers In the Night” sung by Frank Sinatra.

•    The animated television series has been running since 1969. In fact the very first episode appeared on September 13 and was called “What a Night for a Knight”.

Since 1969, most adults and children have grown up with Scooby-Doo. He is and will always remain for many of us our favorite fictional dog – apart from Lassie that is.  Just out of interest how many fictional dogs can you remember?
